Welcome Swing Dancers

The Redwood Empire Swing Dance Club (RESDC) is located in Sonoma County, California. We sponsor a monthly dance in the Santa Rosa area. Browse Swing Times News, and the calendar, left, to find locations and information about dances in Sonoma County.

We welcome and encourage all dancers who have an interest in West Coast Swing Dance, from the absolute beginner to the most advanced dancers. Our club's purpose is to promote West Coast Swing Dance. The intent of this web site is to help dancers find a dance party, a dance workshop, a dance instructor, or a dance convention. So, pick an event and come join us for some fun.

We are very excited to start at our new venue for our dances beginning January 22, 2022 at the Santa Rosa Veterans Hall, 1351 Maple Street, in the Lodge Room.

Presidents Message

As we move into the month of August, I am reminded that even though summer does not officially end until September, the end of summer is right around the corner. Many of you have children, grandchildren, are teachers or perhaps even students yourselves and are preparing for the return to school.

With the recent passing of notables such as Olivia-Newton John, Vin Scully, and others, I am also reminded that we should make the best of each and every day.

Our August dance is at the Cotati Veterans Memorial Hall. A few have asked why there? A few others have asked why Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial and even a few more have suggested we could do things better. As a board member you can help us with those decisions. You are welcome to join our monthly Zoom meeting, typically the first Monday of every month. We have multiple board positions open and can always entertain input. And to clarify why Santa Rosa Vets was booked for August, and we had booked Hermann Sons Hall for our Invitational. We decided to cancel the Invitational and possibly the August dance, however, a few board members really wanted to offer our members an August dance. Cotati had been considered last year and was available, so we took it.

Our board met this last Monday and voted to remove the booster requirement. A vaccination is still required, and masks are optional. (If you’ve shown proof in the past, you will not have to do so again).

Austin Kois will be teaching the Intermediate lesson and is our deejay for the evening. Brenda Shatto will teach the beginner lesson.

In September we return to Santa Rosa, and we will be sending out our membership renewals.

We look forward to seeing you at our August 27th dance.

Stay well,

Bonita Gordon
RESDC President
